Guide our scholars by serving as a mentor, known to us as journeymen and journeywomen. Men and women ages 21 and older can serve with the Jonesville Academy. In approved cases, college students ages 18 and older may serve as journeymen/women. Multiple mentors work with a group of scholars in their designated age group.
Responsibilities
Journeymen/women are expected to volunteer 4-8 hours a month in their mentoring role. The Jonesville Academy uses a group mentoring model, which involves 2-4 journeymen/journeywomen who serve with a specific age group. Journeymen and journeywomen attend at least one Jonesville Academy meeting month to connect with scholars, and they are asked to participate in mentoring events during the year. Past activities include Thanksgiving basket shopping, Silver Bells project, educational field trips, WKU football and basketball games, and more. They also attend journeymen/women meetings 2-3 times a year. Journeymen and journeywomen are also expected to represent the organization online and in person, and to serve as supportive figures for the scholar at school, when applicable.
