Guide our scholars by serving as a mentor, known to us as journeymen and journeywomen. Men and women ages 21 and older can serve with the Jonesville Academy. Mentors communicate with a group of 3-5 scholars at least once a week and participate in group meetings approximately four times during the academic year. 

Journeymen/women are required to complete a background check, participate in a training and orientation. 


Journeymen/women are expected to volunteer 6-10 hours a month of their time mentoring 3-5 young men. The Jonesville Academy uses a group mentoring model, which involves the mentors communicating with the scholars at least once a week using the agreed-upon method with methods and the mentor coordinators. They attend journeymen/women meetings and participate in group mentoring events/trips. They are also expected to represent the organization online and in-person, and be a support for the scholar at school, when applicable.
