Guide our scholars by serving as a mentor, known to us as journeymen and journeywomen. Men and women ages 21 and older can serve with the Jonesville Academy. In approved cases, WKU students ages 18 and older may serve as journeymen/women. Mentors communicate with a group of 3-5 scholars at least once a month and participate in group meetings approximately four times during the academic year. 

Responsibilities

Journeymen/women are expected to volunteer 6-10 hours a month of their time mentoring 3-5 young men. The Jonesville Academy uses a group mentoring model, which involves the mentors communicating with the scholars at least once a month by attending lunch and/or virtual meetings. They attend journeymen/women meetings and participate in group mentoring events/trips. They are also expected to represent the organization online and in-person, and be a support for the scholar at school, when applicable.

Those interested in being a journeymen/journeywomen should complete the application by April 15. Applicants will be asked for at least two references. A review committee will select applicants for interviews. After the interview, a background check is required before reaching the matching phase.
